MadCraft aims to take servers to a whole different level.
Theres no fancy 5000x5000 spawn to lure you in.
No paid staff/op.
No fancy [Grand Elder Member] [Donor] [VIP 2x] prefixs
No possibility of staff exploits, just regular players making sure nothing breaks and no one cheats.
MadCraft is designed to keep it simple, while also being vastly different from other servers.

However, MadCraft isnt for the faint of heart!
The Nether is near unlivable.
The farther from spawn you go, the harder the monsters get.
Torches dont work deep underground. Youll need another light source.
Ores and precious minerals are less common, Use what you have wisely.
Completely physical money system. No Banks. No /bal.
Physical key system. Dont lose the key to your chests!
Money is difficult to get on your own, do Quests or start a shop to earn more.
Diamonds are even rarer. No more full enchanted diamond gear.
Faction wars and Raiding are encouraged.
Bounty system. Be careful who you trust.

Monster Levels
Monsters Get more difficult the further from spawn you get. 1000 blocks away is roughly 1.5x harder

Ore Rarity
Ores have been made slightly more rare. its noticeable but nothing that time and effort wont circumvent.

The Nether
The Nether follows the same difficulty scaling, only much more dramatic. Every 10 blocks in the nether is roughly .5x harder

The Economy is much more player driven then most servers. 1 per mob killed, with exceptions. Oh, and spawn sells logs, cobblestone, and bread. Thats it.

To lock a chest or container you need a physical key renamed tripwire it MUST be in your inventory to open the container. You can drop it on death.

There are 2 kinds of shops, physical buildings that you rent outside of spawn, And the actual shop plugin that uses chests.

Torches will go out if rained on. They will also go out if put below a certain block level due to lack of oxygen.

Farming is realistic. No frozen wastelands, no deserts, no underground dungeons. They need a water source and proper lighting.

NPC driven quests. From murdering players, Raiding Villages, killing raiders and mining metals everythings covered.

Think of most MMOs instanced dungeons, pretty much the same thing.
