High Harbour only needs those instructions so that you, the PLAYER, can know from the start what you can expected from the server and what does the server from you, other than HAVE FUN and PLAY MINECRAFT. Some of the instructions might sound odd but they’re there only to try to keep the server the most lag free possible. For the time being there is no monetary fees, or voting requirements - also with no subsequent voting rewards - to play on the server but it would be appreciated if you take your time to cast your .vote.
VANILLA means using only the Mojang Minecraft server .jar. Period. Using all and anything that comes with and is permitted by the Mojang Minecraft server .jar constitutes, therefore a vanilla type server. High Harbour uses a small amount of command blocks to provide for certain comforts.
SURVIVAL is survival… There are no kits nor is to be expected any kind of assistance for other players. Some players might feel compelled to help and might do so, however it is highly discouraged and does not help the server doing so. Use .sethome has you move so you don’t need help with kits or others help.
PERSISTENT to a certain extent. The purpose is to allow for players to have a place to come back to whenever they feel like. This means that - with 98 certainty - the server will NEVER reset it’s map. 1 is to account for possible catastrophic failures and the other 1 is to account for old and never used region files. Possibly, and from time to time, all world region files older than 1 year could be removed.
HARD is the difficulty of the map. Although no items will be lost upon death there is no point in making survival even easier.
.SETHOME always type .sethome in small caps, otherwise it won’t work works the same way as a bed, only without one. What it does is set your spawnpoint to that location. You know what happens if you break a bed right However, when using .sethome you must make sure you don’t cover the block where you used .sethome otherwise you will loose your fixed spawnpoint location and will end up back at spawn. ALWAYS take note of your home coordinates so that an operator can help you getting back home. ONLY works in the Overworld. Using it in The Nether or The End does nothing.
.HOME always type .home in small caps, otherwise it won’t work will take you to The End and back. Until you get the Achievement “Into Fire - Relief a Blaze of its rod”, you’ll get the Minecraft final credits: hit escape to exit. Can be used in The Nether and The End.
.TPA .TP will only work when both players are in the same Dimension. Type .tpa PlayerName when you want to teleport to another player. The exact name has to be entered otherwise it will not work. If both players are in The Nether or The End, the request will not show up but the teleport will still work if the second player types .tp or .deny.
KEEPINVENTORY TRUE is used because the purpose of the server is to encourage players to focus on building magnificent. Small dirt huts are also welcome but only for a temporary shelter. WIthout the constant fear of losing inventory, players can aspire to bigger heights or depths.
DOFIRETICK FALSE is used primarily to the same effect has keepInventory true. Build magnificent. Without the fear of wasting time building in wood just to see all destroyed to some random lightning strike, the player can now build all in wood. Also, any eventual wrongdoing griefers will see frustrated their endeavours to ruin someones hard work with just a mouse click. BE AWARE of Creepers they will blow your build to smithereens...
WORLD BORDER AT 255000 seems a nice compromise between a small world and a place far enough to build in.
NO GRIEFING | NO RAIDING are self explanatory enough to be clearly understood by anyone. Although, in the eventuality that some of you might have a reading disorder, I’ll clarify: there is to be no evil destruction of natural or created environments and no appropriating of other players resources. Period.
PvE is… allowed.
PvP is allowed anywhere you want with anyone you want PROVIDED you make your intentions known in public chat and the other player CLEARLY states in public chat that she/he is ok with it. There is a .pvp room where all that enter are fair game even without consent.
